President Joe Biden has announced his intention to nominate Abigail L. Dressel as the new ambassador to Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, according to a statement from the White House. Abigail L. Dressel, a career diplomat currently serving as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, will assume the role pending Senate approval, a process expected to extend until November of this year. The appointment will then be sent to the Angolan government for confirmation. Tulinabo Mishingi, the current U.S. ambassador to Angola, will conclude his term in March 2025.
