#AATFKIKAO Episode 8: Biotechnology Utilisation in AfricaPamela Ngqinani
Biotechnology is one of the tools at the farmers’ disposal in resolving various agricultural challenges such as low crop yields, pests, and diseases as well as frequent droughts brought about by the impact of climate change. But in most African countries, the journey to deliver Genetically Modified (GM) products into the hands of farmers has been relatively slow. The adoption of GM technology has been plagued by challenges such as voices opposed to the technology, and prohibitive regulations.
This week on #AATFKIKAO, we examine the status of biotechnology adoption and utilisation in Africa. Take a seat and join AATF Executive Director, Dr. Canisius Kanangire as he hosts Dr.Jeremy Oudreaogo, the Director of African Biosafety Network of Expertise (ABNE), and Dr. Florence Wambugu, the CEO of Africa Harvest (Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International).
